AutoPACL Software for DOS

AutoPACL is a comprehensive, fully integrated, stand-alone program that enables you to make full use of the Personality Adjective Check List (PACL; Strack, 1991b). With AutoPACL you can:

• Administer the PACL entirely by computer
• Enter responses from paper and pencil protocols
• Compute PACL T scores and display or print PACL profiles
• Produce interpretive narrative reports
• View or print item responses by scale or test
• Produce catalog listings of all data files on disk
• Create a collection of data files for export to other programs
• Use any Microsoft-compatible mouse for menu selection
• Use color, monochrome, or LCD monitors
• Log program usage

Since AutoPACL is sold without a specified number of uses per copy, you may administer, score, and interpret as many protocols as you wish.

What’s New for Version 2.0

Version 2.0 of AutoPACL was prompted by requests from users of the Narrative Interpretations program for all-new, expanded test reports. Users were pleased with the intuitive interface of Version 1.0, as well as its many features. They wanted a program that would retain as many of the old features as possible while demonstrating compatibility with the latest computers and software. We took your suggestions!

Those who are upgrading from Version 1.0 will find Version 2.0 essentially identical in terms of "look and feel." The new program has all of the features of the older software and works the same way. A number of changes were made in the computer algorithm to make it run faster and to make it compatible with updated operating system software.

Because we kept all of the program features from Version 1.0, experienced users only need to read Chapter 3 of the User's Guide to learn about the changes that were made to the narrative reports. The narratives were completely rewritten and include new sections addressing profile characteristics (frequency, salience, and stability) and the characteristics of persons who obtain low scale scores.

Hardware and Software Requirements

AutoPACL will run on any IBM PC/XT/AT/PS1/PS2 or 100% compatible computer using DOS 2.0 or later with at least 640K RAM. AutoPACL is compatible with 80-column 25-row color and monochrome monitors. A hard disk drive and mouse are recommended but not required. To use the AutoPACL Basic program without a hard disk drive, you need one 5¼-inch (360K or higher) or one 3½-inch (720K or higher) floppy drive. To use the Narrative Interpretations program without a hard drive, you must have one 5¼-inch (1.2MB or higher) floppy drive or one 3½-inch (1.44MB or higher) floppy disk drive. For installation and use on a hard disk system, you must have at least 400K bytes of free disk space for the Basic program, and 1.5 megabytes of free disk space for the Narrative Interpretations program.
